ABOUT THE NAME
In case you didn’t already know, the Lower American River is a state and federally designated wild and scenic river! When I found this out, I wanted it boldly declared on every billboard in town. Yes, we are the Farm to Fork Capital, and the City of Trees… and we also have a wild and scenic river running right through town!
So, when it came to naming the project — Mildly Scenic was a play on the words “Wild and Scenic.”
Would I put our river up there with the stunning wild spaces like Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, or Point Reyes? Nope. But it’s mildly scenic, it’s wild and scenic, and it’s right in our backyard.
