I never considered myself a writer, at least not until now. I’m a traveler, a runner, an outdoorsy type, a trip leader, and a Mom.
Raised in a family of travelers and teachers, I had the great fortune of inheriting the thirst for exploring the unknown. I spent a couple of high school years in Malaysia, a couple of college years in Costa Rica, and a lot of my twenties leading trips to remote areas overseas. Throughout the years, I’ve seen some really scenic places, like sunrise atop a volcano, or the Himalayas blanketed in snow, or the Amazon rainforest drenched in a rainstorm.
But, there is a special appreciation I have for the mildly scenic daily adventure. The kind of place that delivers the thrill of the natural environment without the hours of travel and vacation time. A quick dip into nature, and I’m ready to pick my kids up at school. I have found this along the Lower American River, and I’m so excited to share it with you.
Greg Traverso is an artist, graphic designer, and creative director born and raised in Northern California. He specializes in developing creative and unique solutions to complex projects for a wide range of clients. He currently lives in Las Vegas, NV.
Looking to elevate Mildly Scenic beyond a basic trail guide, Ashley collaborated with Greg, who is the mastermind behind the book’s clever cover design and the this super fun, engaging, and beautiful book. From the beginning, Greg looked beyond the book and saw Mildly Scenic as a lifestyle and an opportunity to invite an entire community to the trails along the river.
